Town History
At Roofers Dallas, we’re proud to be part of the rich heritage that shapes the city of Carrollton. Originally settled in the 1840s through the Peters Colony land grant, the area began as a quiet farming settlement. The town’s name officially appeared when the U.S. Post Office opened in 1878, and things really took off with the arrival of the Dallas & Wichita Railroad in 1881. Cotton gins, mills, and trade stores started popping up, transforming Carrollton into a regional shipping hub. Incorporation followed in 1913, when just a few hundred residents called it home. Since then, Carrollton has grown tremendously, especially during the 1970s and 1980s, evolving from a rural town into a thriving suburb of the greater Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. This blend of history and progress is something we truly admire as a locally engaged roof contractor.
Area Sports
Carrollton offers a wide range of recreational outlets that make living and working here a joy. The city’s extensive park system supports everything from family outings to informal soccer matches. You’ll find sports fields, playgrounds, and walking trails across the community — many of them named in honor of early settlers. For a casual afternoon outdoors, locals often gather at Oak Creek Park, which provides scenic trails and wide green spaces perfect for stretching out or hosting impromptu games. Whether it’s jogging, cycling, or just enjoying nature, the recreation culture here reflects the city's deep commitment to wellness and community life. At Roofers Dallas, we find the same spirit of care and investment applies to how we approach our work on every home and roof.
Local Attractions
Carrollton's attractions strike a perfect balance between historical charm and everyday livability. One standout is Historic Downtown Carrollton — a beautifully preserved square filled with shops, restaurants, and community events that showcase the area’s unique character. The A.W. Perry Homestead Museum also offers an immersive look at early settler life, bringing the 19th-century roots of the city to life for families and visitors. Whether it’s grabbing coffee on the square or strolling through antique stores, there’s always something personal and welcoming about local Carrollton culture. As a business built on relationships, we value these community-first experiences just as much as the craftsmanship we bring to every roofing project.
City Parks
It’s no secret that Carrollton takes pride in its green spaces — and we do too. From Mary Heads Carter Park with its picnic areas and playgrounds, to the winding paths of Carrollton Greenbelt Park, residents enjoy easy access to the outdoors. Oak Creek Park is especially popular for families looking to spend a sunny afternoon walking, relaxing, or playing games in open fields. These parks don’t just offer recreation — they represent a long-standing community vision that emphasizes health, nature, and family life. At Roofers Dallas, that same attention to long-term value and comfort drives the way we work with homeowners to protect what matters most: their homes.
Major Residential Neighborhoods
Carrollton features a blend of historic neighborhoods and modern developments that reflect its growth over the decades. Trinity Mills, once a separate mill-centered community, now forms part of Carrollton’s fabric — a reminder of its early agricultural identity. Meanwhile, Carrollton Heights Historic District offers charming early- to mid-20th-century homes, built when families relocated to higher ground after a major flood in 1908. Today, you’ll also find vibrant new subdivisions that offer spacious homes and family-friendly amenities, all while maintaining close proximity to parks, schools, and commuter routes. As a trusted roof contractor, we’re proud to work across all these areas, helping homeowners maintain the safety and curb appeal of their properties in every corner of the city.
